Discovered this at the Rasa Food Court at Alamanda, Putrajaya. There's a stall called Kebab & Lemang King. Cheong Fun @Ee Fatt, Pudu

The Cheong Fun (rice noodles) were prepared ala Hong Kong style with fillings of prawns inside. Tailored to Malaysian taste, it came with some chilli and belacan (spicy shrimp paste) sauce, which was quite good. (Non-halal)Cheong Fun @Ee Fatt, Pudu, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Siam Laksa Lemak @Little Penang Cafe

This variation of laksa had a thick coconut milk soup, more sweetness, less spiciness and less sour, and was otherwise similar to the usual asam laksa Penang. In KL, this is as close as one can get to the Nyonya-style laksa lemak at Beacon Point, Ipoh. Halal.Siam Laksa Lemak @Little Penang Cafe, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

The Birthday Cake

It was a friend's birthday (YapKW) and we embarassed him with a birthday cake and Happy Birthday song at Madam Kwan's. They played the song over the PA system and the whole restaurant had their eyes on him. Wahaha...The Birthday Cake, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Beef La Mian @Crystal Jade, Lot 10

The La Mian was highly recommended by a lot of food bloggers and forums. It was indeed very good. The hand-made noodles were springy and since they're made of wheat flour, was very filling. I ignored the advice to order just the plain noodles, to my regret. The taste of the beef, although nice, was distracting to the wonderful noodles.Beef La Mian @Crystal Jade, Lot 10, originally uploaded by Dr

Nasi Lemak @Madam Kwan's

The best nasi lemak in town award goes to... (drum roll).... Madam Kwan! The fragrance of the rice, the sambal, the oh-so-good curry chicken: They all combine together to give the tastebud the WOW! experience. Nasi Lemak @Madam Kwan's, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Nasi Bojari @Madam Kwan's

Was told that this is another hit at Madam Kwan's. It did not disappoint. The beef rendang was so tender, so fragrant with all the spices but only a little mushy, otherwise would have been perfect. The fried chicken looked dry, but once I gave it a bite, the taste gave me a pleasant surprise - another WOW! The meat was so moist and juicy and nicely marinated, I wonder how they did it. The acar

Drunken Prawns

Equally fresh were the prawns! Served with chinese rice wine. This was the last meal before we left Singapore, and the most satisfying one.Drunken Prawns, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Xiao Loong Bao @Crystal Jade, Lot 10

Pardon the missing XLB, cos I was too eager to try the XLB and only remembered to snap photo after I had the first one in my mouth. The XLBs were up to expectations, except that I find the skin a little too thick, but at least none broke before reaching my mouth. The soup was full of natural sweetness and flavour, everything I would expect from a good XLB. Thumbs up! (Non-halal)Xiao Loong Bao @

Chilli Crabs

The highly recommended chilli crabs. Spicy, and a lil' sour and sweet. Best of all, the crabs were fresh. The flesh was full of natural flavours and had such wonderfully smooth, tender texture. Chilli Crabs, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Lamb Stew @Hainan Chef Kopitiam

Went to Summit USJ just to have this. The lamb stew was full of flavour from the carrots and sweet potatos. The meat was tender and the portion was generous. No wonder this is one of the highly recommended dish on food blogs and forums. But I won't recommend other things on the menu though, it seems they only know how to make good lamb stew. Katong Laksa No. 328

Went all the way to the east side of Singapore to sample the famous laksa. The laksa was in a rich, thick, creamy coconut milk soup base - nyonya style. Only mildly spicy. The noodles were chopped up into small pieces so that a spoon is all you need to scoop them up, no chopsticks provided. The taste made our effort worthwhile. The opposite stall (No.49) served their laksa in bigger portion, more

Ho Po Dumpling @Ying Ker, The Curve

The dumpling wasn't that authentic cos it had more meat than the Ho Po vege in it. But still, it tasted good.Ho Po Dumpling @Ying Ker, The Curve, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Ginger Duck @Ying Ker, The Curve

The dish came with a noodle. It didn't have a very heavy ginger spiciness to it, almost absent but was nice cos it had a tasty Nam Yee sauce. Again, blur pic :( (Non-halal)Ginger Duck @Ying Ker, The Curve, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Hakka Noodles @Ying Ker, The Curve

The noodles was authentically Hakka. The texture was soft but springy, just nice, and very smooth. The sauce had the right balance of oil and the saltiness was not overwhelming. (Non-halal)Hakka Noodles @Ying Ker, The Curve, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Yam Abacus @Ying Ker, The Curve

The pic didn't turn out sharp cos of the difficult lighting. The round stuff were made of flour and yam and had some kind of rubbery texture. It was kind of authentic Hakka stuff but I think there should be more yam in it. But overall, was still good. (Non-halal)Yam Abacus @Ying Ker, The Curve, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Herbal Duck Noodles @Ah Yip Herbal Soup

The herbal soup was even better than the famous Bidor stall. The duck meat was tender and the noodles had a very smooth texture. Herbal Duck Noodles @Ah Yip Herbal Soup, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Yam Basket

The yam basket was good. We ordered it with Lai Liew Har (some kind of prawns, dunno what it's called in English). The Lai Liew Har was cooked in Kung Po style and had a crispy texture and did not leave that horrible aftertaste of Lai Liew Har (if u know what i mean). The yam basket itself was good although the consistency of the yam was a bit too mushy for my liking. @Restoran Leong Ya, Seri

Nice Teapot @Ying Ker, The Curve

The teapot was nice. Nice Teapot @Ying Ker, The Curve, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Pork Leg in Vinegar

A typical Chinese Hakka dish. This one was good but still behind the one from Ampang Yong Tau Foo stall. I did not like the cut of the meat which had lots of bones and very little meat but taste wise, was ok. @Restoran Leong Ya, Seri Kembangan. (Non-halal)Pork Leg in Vinegar, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Chicken Wrapped in Paper

There are a few famous Ji Bao Gai (Chicken Wrapped in Paper) in the Seri Kembangan/Serdang area and this is one of them. I had this at Restoran Leong Ya, which is situated near the Mines Shopping Centre, facing the main road. The chicken was wrapped with a savoury sauce in paper, and since it's cooked wrapped in the paper, it retains all the flavour and allowed the flavour to permeate the meat.

Mr Ho's Siew Yoke

This was from Mr Ho's Fine Food counter at Jusco, Mid Valley. The roasted pork was flavoured heavily in garlic, which lends a fragrant aroma to the meat. Some chunks of garlic can still be seen clinging to the meat. Traces of other herbs can also be detected but was not sure what they were. The skin was crispy and the meat was tender, juicy and bursting with flavour. Very good. Pstt... they

Indian Sweets

Bought some indian sweets from a shop called Rawang Spicehouse. I have seen indian sweets in magazines and tv, but this was the first time I tasted them. It was actually quite good. All were sweet (of course, being sweets) but made of different ingredients so they had different taste and textures. (Halal i think)Indian Sweets, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Prawn Noodles @Rawang

Headed to Rawang town for food and found a simple coffeehouse packed with locals. It seemed that prawn mee (noodles) was their specialty. The broth was not overly spicy, not overwhelming in the "shrimp" taste (if u know what i mean). Good. @Restoran Kopitiam Wan, Rawang. XL Crabs @Empayar Siew Pau

The famous Siew Pau place at Seremban also serves fresh seafood. The crabs were XL-sized! Unfortunately, their culinary skill wasn't really impressive - otherwise would have been perfect. Nevertheless, the crabs were very fresh and the natural sweetness of the meat saved the day.XL Crabs @Empayar Siew Pau, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Teochew Braised Hard-Boiled Eggs

The eggs were hard-boiled, had the shells removed and put into the braised pork. For best results, let it remain in the sauce for at least 24 hours. As seen in pic, the whites already absorbed the brown sauce so its full of flavour.Teochew Braised Hard-Boiled Eggs, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Teochew Braised Pork

It's mum's cooking. She learned the recipe from a chef many years ago. This version is authentically Teochew and beats those served in restaurants hands down. Teochew Braised Pork, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Fried Pig Knuckle @Restoran Kim Wah

The pig knuckle was fried to get a crispy skin. Tasted heavenly as the skin was flavoured with some kind of marinade. The plum sauce went very well with the pork and provides a pleasant contrast to the dry meat, yet did not overpower the natural flavour of the meat. The restaurant is actually a "dai chou" stall at a kopitiam at SS22 (if I remember correctly). It's in the residential area opposite

Sesame/Yam Chicken @Restoran Kim Wah

The owner called it sesame chicken cos he said it tastes like sesame but the name is definitely misleading. There's no sesame in it and definitely no sesame taste. But it's good. The dish was prepared with some crispy chicken skin on top and the filling was made of fish paste (my guess, cos it tasted something like yong tao foo) and had a layer of yam at the bottom. The result was a fantastic

Ayam Golek from Sungai Buloh

Ta pao (Take-away) this from a roadside stall along the road leading to the Sungai Buloh prison. The chicken was marinated in black pepper and some other spices and roasted on a rotteserie-like thing. Smelled and tasted good although I find the chilli sauce supplied didn't go very well with the chicken. (Halal)Ayam Golek from Sungai Buloh, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Warm Melted Choc @Bakerzin

Having heard so much about Bakerzin, I decided to give it a try. IMHO, it's overrated. We tried a few cakes, nothing impressive. Only this Warm Choc thing was better. Crunchy outside, and there's warm, melted choc inside. Yummy! @Bakerzin, One Utama (Halal)Warm Melted Choc @Bakerzin, originally uploaded by Dr Fizzwizzle.

Very Clean Prawns @Empayar Siew Pau

According to the HoJiak programme aired on TV, they rear the prawns and export to Japan. Dunno whether its true, but the prawns were very fresh and clean. They did not have that black u-know-what thing on their backs.
