photo of the day.

back when isaac and i were dating, my bffs and i went on a cruise.  i recently stumbled upon this photo and it brought back so many fond memories.  this us us in jamaica. this day of the cruise is probably one of the craziest/most adventurous of my life.  we let a strange jamaican man drive us deep into the forest...what were we thinking?!  pretty sure he took this photo.

haha.  see more of this sketchy, fabulous cruise here

i'll never get over it.

when ike and i started planning our trip to washington, he made it a priority that we stop at the best teriyaki place he frequented often on his mission. in my mind i pictured a nice restaurant and was so excited, i love teriyaki. soooo i was little surprised when we pulled up to this little place in a strip mall! but i took my hubs word for it and oh boy am i glad i did.
i have never had better teriyaki in my life. and now i seriously crave it every day. every time we're trying to decide where to eat i get disappointed that i can't have the deliciousness we had in washington. in fact, i'm craving it right now. dang you utah for not having the teriyaki i love and crave.

deception pass.

this bridge was crazy. crossing it was so scary! but nonetheless fabulous.
love him.
oh washington, how i miss you.

today was such a lovely day and i was trapped in the hospital all day! and it's supposed to rain tomorrow - on my day off! not happy about it. i spent the day in the newborn icu and loved it. i held a little premie babe for over an hour and we both dozed off together. definitely a good day in nursing school. now it's time to make my weekly shopping list - i need some new recipes to try! any suggestions?!

first stop, portland.

when we began planning our trip to washington we decided that we simply had to go to oregon to see some of isaac's family. best decision ever. it was fabulous!
on our first day there they took us on quite the tour of oregon. we stopped at the tillamook cheese factory on our way to the beach for some squeeky cheese and ice cream and you know i was loving that!
it was so sunny and nice all day but of course once we got to the beach it was so windy. and cold. but we enjoyed ourselves anyway.
isn't it lovely?! this beach has a special meaning to isaac's family and i was so happy to be there to experience it. someday we'll go back when it's sunny and jump jump jump in the ocean!

we ate and ate and ate.

one of my favorite parts of going on vacation - trying lots of new yummy food and treats. and in seattle we did just that.
fresh fish and chips.
these cow chips cookies are amazing! thanks to my best girlfriend malorie for making sure i knew about them. i munched mine so fast.
ike got this roasted corn from a street cart and it was sooo good. i can't wait to make some on our bbq this summer.

i want another cow chips cookie. now.
why do i love food so much??

day and night.

while in seattle, isaac and i made it top priority to go up to the tip top of the space needle. it was a must and i loved every minute of it.
i can see us living here, it's so lovely! click on the pic to enlarge it so you can get the full effect.
it's worth it.
of course we had to go back up at night so we hopped on the monorail to get some delicious dinner and came right back to see this...
amazing...

true love.

the public market in seattle is full of beautiful flowers and fresh fruits and veggies. i wanted so badly to buy bundles of flowers and berries. why can't we have something like that here in utah?
dear utah, get with the program.

twi-hards.

ooooh twilight. yes, we went to forks/port angeles/la push while here in washington and let me tell you, it was awesome. i am no die hard fan, but i do love a good dose of vampire romance.
and la push beach is pure magic.
we're currently in the airport waiting to come home and i feel like crying. i do not want to come back to real life. it has been so great hanging out with family and friends and especially having my husband all to myself for a whole week!

washington, i miss you already.

viva.

oh how i love las vegas. i wish we had the time/money to go there lots and lots and lots.

after driving into vegas we found the amazing outlet mall and shopped shopped shopped. can i tell you how lucky i am to have married a guy who loves to shop as much as i do? such a wonderful thing. we were too busy finding deals to take any pics...
after a little lunch and shopping we headed over to the luxor to go to the bodies exhibit. i had seen it before in vegas with girlfriends but isaac hadn't seen it yet and i knew he would love it. but first we got a special little surprise...
the luxor was celebrating their 1 year anniversary of having the bodies exhibit in their hotel and they were giving everyone who bought a ticket a 15 minute chair massage by a massage therapist and a cupcake! i nearly cried.
massage + cupcakes + bodies = my kind of afternoon.

after bodies we got some dinner and did a little more shopping and afterward went to the best restaurant...serendipity 3. loved it. we just went for dessert and it was definitely worth it. see below...
i look like a little kid. pure joy.
frozzzzen hot chocolate.

the next morning we made our way to the bear paw for breakfast...if you haven't been there you should. it's right off st. george blvd.

ike's breakfast...stuffed french toast and all the fixins'.
best belgian waffle ever. seriously.

our trip to st. george/vegas was well needed and we lived it up.
i love little getaways with my hubs, does anyone have any good suggestions for other weekend trips?! please share, i need to plan something to plan and look forward to so i don't get toooo caught up in school :)
