the bright side.

this week has been seriously rough so i decided i need to borrow my bloggie friend krysten's idea of looking at the bright side and post 10 things that made me happy this week.

1. frozen yogurt in primary children's cafeteria
2. husband having such a successful business trip to st. george
3. getting an 88% on my leadership test {they are so hard!}
4. mini pork salads from costa vida
5. my comfy bed and being able to sleep in today {i'm still lounging in bed, love it}
6. being able to see without contacts/glasses! every night when i can still see i think to myself, "i need to take these contacts out...oh wait!"
7. a darling new pink and white swim suit from old navy {all their stuff is 30% off right now!}
8. my 14 year old brother collin putting my name on our home caller id as "annoying" because he gets annoyed i call to talk to my mom so much. so rude collin, but it made me laugh!
9. reading the help
10. and finally, finding a forgotten gift card from forever 21 so i could purchase this beauty of a tee. doesn't it look like it could be from j crew? love those forever finds. can't wait to get it in the mail!

i guess this week wasn't so bad after all. just can't wait for the hubs to get home tomorrow.

going nuts.

i have been such a mess this week. let me give you a few examples...

i haven't been home except to study and sleep. our apartment has been cluttered for weeks and my ocd self doesn't even care. my fingernail polish is so chipped (a pet peeve of mine) and i don't have "time" to remove it. i was coming home on the trax yesterday and i got so nauseous that i had to take seriously deep breaths to not barf. i was forced to take care of dummy patients for 16 hours on tues/wed in lieu of taking care of real patients in the hospital- wtf?! i had a crying fit wednesday night and isaac kept asking me what was wrong and i honestly had no legit reason for the tears. i went to turn on my computer at school yesterday and it wouldn't accept my password i've had for years - what!?!! oh, and i ate a giant bag of that delicious homemade kettle corn for dinner. sometimes do you ever just stop and think,
who am i?!!
i can't tell you how excited i am for the weekend. i need to relax, clean up, and take some time to get back to my normal self.

in less than 10 hours i will be back in schoolio like a foolio. my break was well needed and so much fun! but waaay too short. a 2 week summer is not enough. luckily with the pool at my apartment and some pool time in st. george i managed to get a little color. very little, but still.

here is a little list of some fun things i did...

1. got the hair/eye/dmv appointments out of the way. i am now officially emma joy westwood and my hair no longer has 3 inch roots! i feel like a whole new woman.

2. our trip to st. george/vegas was soo much fun. i can't get enough of isaac. i love it when we have no school/work to distract our fun. pics to come from our trip...

3. our apartment is officially organized and clean. it feels so great. i don't have bags of unpacked t-shirts lying around anymore!

4. i got so much fabulous sleep. and exercise time.

5. my mom and i had a hay day. we lunched at zupas numerous times (our new fav, i dream about the nuts about berries salad) and did what we do best...find amazing deals shopping! we also saw julie and julia. loved it. i was so inspired! i want to really learn to cook.

6. so i read la candy on our trip to vegas and i'm not ashamed to say i enjoyed it! i know, it's bad. now i'm reading a book one of my bff's wrote and am loving it.

7. my girlfriends are so good to me. we met up for lots of lunches, pool time and girl talk. steph and i saw the times traveler's wife - when i got home i thanked isaac for not traveling time. i have a love/hate relationship with that movie.

8. i baked reese's chocolate cookies, easy ice cream sandwiches, lemon squares and peanut butter cupcakes. yum yum yum.

9. we got to spend lots of time with family and loved it. once you're married you realize how much you take advantage of the time you get to spend with them. we went to isaac's cabin, attended a family reunion, had my family over for dinner, spent time with my cousin brian, visited my sweet grandma, spent time with ike's family, and are planning a big sunday dinner for his fam next sunday...lets hope the food turns out!

10. went to the free twilight series iron and wine concert at the galivan center. mistake #1 -craving kfc's chicken legs (a very strange craving, we rarely eat any fast food) and munching them before the concert. not a good idea. never again will we eat you kfc. mistake #2 - not getting there super early to get a good spot so we could actually see...and hear for that matter. i decided i don't like things with a lot of people. i asked isaac, "if i don't think this is fun does it make me an un-fun person?" he said, "no, it just means you like a different type of fun." indeed, fun where you have to pay a little to get in so so many dang people don't show up. next time iron and wine, next time.

i'm pretty sure i have to learn how to put an iv in this week. i'm nervous.

favorite shampoo/conditioner: scruples white tea. it is pure magic. who knew white tea loved hair so much. it is pretty pricey, but if you get it on sale/your bff malorie gives it to you for christmas, you're in business.

favorite hair product: la looks curl gel. it gives my hair its curly bouncy goodness for only $1.94 a pop.

favorite beauty product: mac mineralize skinfinish. gives my skin a light shimmer polish. also the sonia kashuk powder brush is the nicest, softest brush ever and its from the one and only target. i love you target.

revlon lipgloss = the best. i have it in multiple colors and love it. no stickiness whatsoever.

maybelline sky high curves: it really curls my lashes without an eyelash curler. greatest grocery store mascara.
favorite perfume: mochino funny.
favorite must have of all time: burt's bees lip balm. so minty and fresh. isaac got me addicted and i love it because it reminds me of him.
favorite store: nordstrom. all you could ever need in one store. seriously. food and everything.

favorite jeans: "lindsey" skinny jeans from forever 21. best $12.50 jeans ever. and they fit as well as my designers.

favorite shoes: my sugar boots. i cannot live without boots in this icy weather. these boots go with everything and i get so many compliments. i also have them in a black/blue/gray floral print.

favorite restaurant: i picked 2 because i love food so much. first, market street grill. best prime rib/salmon/bread/salad/dessert in town. location of the biggest celebration of my life: our wedding dinner.

happy sumo. isaac and i love this place. we would eat here 2+ times a week if we could.

favorite movie: twilight. that edward gets me every time.

favorite tv show: 30 rock hands down. i laugh so hard every episode.

tina fey + tracey morgan + alec baldwin = hilarious.

favorite book: fast food nation. i read it for a health economics class and loved it. i learned so many cool facts. did you know that the average american drinks 56 gallons of soda a year, roughly 600 12 oz cans. holy cow people. did you know that 4-5 fastfood workers are murdered on the job each year. did you know that the average american eats 30+ pounds of french fries each year. again, holy cow people. thank goodness i'm not average. if you are at all interested in nutrition, this is a must read.favorite thing to happen in 2008: i met this boy. best thing to ever happen to me.

So here's the latest on what has been going on since my cruise. First of all, we went to Isaac's aunt's cabin for the weekend and had such a fab time.

I cannot take credit for any of these pics, Isaac's dad took them and I love them. This moose tried to get me. Jk, we saw him from the car and my bf jumped out of the car to take pics of the beast for me.

Isaac took me to this concert and we had the best time.

Jason put on such a great show and sang so many songs directly to me, I just know it. Lisa Hannigan. She's Irish.

So there you have it. A very quick update on my life. Besides these events I've been busy with school and working 2 jobs. I got a new job at a transitional rehabilitation place as a CNA and I love it! Its rough trying to balance 2 jobs + school but good news: there are only weeks left of the semester, thank goodness. And then one more semester left until I'm an official college grad...and then on to nursing school, I hope (cross your fingers!!!)
