and tomorrow night is chili and cornbread with friends.

really?

yesterday it snowed. i'm still in shock. this kind of weather makes me want to stay inside with my hubby and not leave our apartment. for dinner we had the ultimate comfort food...
grilled cheese made with muenster (my fav), tomato soup, and homemade chocolate chip cookies.
i love having nights off with isaac where i don't have homework on the brain. if we can spend all the snowy nights cuddling on couch eating cookies and drinking cocoa we'll have one happy winter.

another thing i am so happy about...
the snow can't keep isaac and i apart this winter. last year there we so many gigantic snowstorms that made it impossible to make the murray to orem/springville drive. not this year snow!
take that!

pumpkin patch.

sad fact: i have never been to a pumpkin patch. at least i can't remember ever going...so isaac and i decided it is a halloween/fall must. we found one here in south jordan and isaac, clint and i made our way over to the magical patch.

i love baby pumpkins.
i'm once again staying warm in isaac's sweatshirt...

i can't wait to carve them!

snow patrol.

i love snow patrol. and being the sweet wife that i am, i bought isaac snow patrol tickets for his bday in july (he likes them too...maybe not quite as much...) and we saw them on oct 10th. it was so much fun! i am a big fan of small venues, so it wasn't my favorite that it was at the mckay events center, but we loved it anyway. minus the annoying little tweens in front of us who were in and out, in and out the entire time. i wanted to pull off their snow patrol beanies and throw them in their faces.

i love a man in purple.
plain white t's opened for them but the lead singer was ill so they only sang 3 songs. it was fine by me because he sounded terrible.

did you know the lead singer of snow patrol is from ireland?? i ate that right up.

sunday drive.

i love taking sunday drives during the fall. we took ike's family dog abbey with us and we headed up springville canyon to see the fall colors.

grandma.

my sweet grandma passed away last month and i miss her every day. i was honored to speak at her funeral and read an excerpt from my journal i kept as an 8 year old girl.

"i love my grandma so much! she takes me places a lot. but i love her so much that i cannot tell you. do you like your grandma? well you probably do not love yours as much as i do! she is the best grandma in the world! she loves us so much that when she hugs us we get squeezed because she loves us so much! she is my dad's mom but she is nicer to me than my dad. i am sort of afraid that she might die but my mom says she won't die until i am older. my grandma likes cats. i love my grandma."

i feel so lucky to be her granddaughter.

cookie time.

halloween is upon us and i love making festive treats.
i found this treat in my favorite cookbook and baked them up real quick one afternoon after class and isaac and i munched them like crazy.

easy m&m cookies

1 white cake mix

2 eggs

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1 1/4 cup plain m&ms

preheat oven to 350 degrees. mix together cake mix, eggs, and oil in a large bowl until mix is dissolved. mix m&ms into dough. drop balls of dough onto greased baking sheet. bake 9-12 minutes, until golden brown. remove from pan and cool.

so easy and delicious. use holiday m&ms and they're even better.

today is a big birthday for my mom and it must be honored by a blog post.

i feel so lucky to be her daughter, she has always been my very best friend.

tonight i'm throwing a big bad bday party for her and my little brother collin (who just turned 14!) at our place and i'm excited! i'm nervy because i'm making cafe rio pork/rice/black beans and i've never done it before. wish me luck!

i am obsessed ingrid michaelson. every time a put on her latest album everybody i instantly cheer up, even if i'm already happy. give her a listen.

oh my goodness. i just found out ingrid will be here on october 17th at in the venue.

p.s. i love having a husband who loves all music and will take me to any and every concert i please.

i love it when the seasons change and this drastic weather shift has got me thinking. thinking about my favorite things. i am like a little girl, simple things make me oh so happy and i wanted to share some of those things with you.
