you guys.  you guys.  iwantthiswatchsososobad.  so bad.  unfortunately, as part of my new years resolutions and the strict budget i've put myself on, it is currently a no-go. if only i had discovered it before my birthday and christmas!  poop.  someone please give me $160.  k thanks.

birthday boots.

guess who got herself not 1 but 2 pairs of birthday boots?  meeeee!  when my mom and i went to nordstrom to try on the tan booties, i tried on the green as well and fell in love.  of course, the tan were more practical...so she bought me those but i went home and found the green pair for a steal of a deal on amazon.  happy birthday to me.  can i just tell you how much i love amazon?  love love love it.  

anyway, we're just going to call it birthday week here on emma the joy.  i'm seriously depressed it's over...so i'm going to re-live it each day here on the blog.  hope you don't hate me by the end of the week.  please please don't.   k thanks.

my shoe collection got a serious boost this christmas and i couldn't be happier.  i am especially excited i finally got my christmas toms!  i still really really want these booties...possibly for my birthday?  it is only in 9 days...

you guys, i am almost done with my christmas shopping! i know, i'm a freak. i just hate hate hate shopping with large crowds so you can imagine how anxious i get during the christmas rush. not fun. therefore, i shop good and early. i love taking my sweet time finding the perfect gifts. and the best deals! unfortunately...i have this little problem where when i shop i end up buying myself little presents as well. the whole "one for me, one for you" thing. my husband totally makes fun of me for this...i'm working on it. i've actually done a pretty good job this year! but...i did find this sweater at old navy and had to have it. i had a great friends and family discount and simply could not pass it up. doesn't it look cozy?

am i the only person who buys herself gifts while christmas shopping?

last week i got the j crew catalogue in the mail and nearly died. so many beautiful things that i want to ask for for christmas. {i better write a nice letter to santa!} one of them being this beautiful puffer jacket. when i showed it to isaac this is how our conversation went...

e: "ike look at this coat!"

i: "that's cool, but don't you have black one like that?"

e: "yes..........but i don't have purple and/or pink one."

boys just do not understand our need to have coat in multiple {every} color. i'm definitely going to keep my eye on it online, let's keep our fingers crossed it goes on sale!

booties.

i love boots. i strongly believe that spending a little extra money for a good pair always pays off and you can wear them far longer than any cheapy pair. and they don't let your feet get wet like some of my cheapies, which is the worst in the winter. the worst. i love this pair by steve madden at nordstrom so much. i don't have any brown boots and i think it's high time i get me a pair.

dear mom, buy me a pair for christmas please. shall we take a trip to nordstrom this week?! i think yes.

pretty pretty.

while shopping a few weeks ago with my mom we spotted this skirt hanging on the holds rack at forever 21. of course we asked about it and the salesgirl found us both one in our size! and for only $19.80! it was a true miracle to find a longer skirt at forever 21. everything there is so dang short and it drives me crazy! this skirt perfect with black tights and my black flats.

a little obsession.

i am obsessed with cardigans. especially long boyfriend cardigans. i've had a love affair with them for years, but this season they are everywhere and i can't get enough! on monday night my hubs picked me up from work and informed me he had a meeting at the barnes and noble in the mall. i originally was going to just drop him off and have his friend bring him home {i was starving} but then he pulled up next to the giant forever 21 and i couldn't resist. i, of course, found myself a lovely boyfriend cardigan, along with some other goodies and a few birthday gifts for a ridiculous deal. love that place. i didn't see the sweater pictured above, but i sure am thinking about ordering it online...

the monday wants.

i'm not ashamed to admit i love lauren conrad. i loved her on the hills, wish i had her hair, and am recently loving her clothing line for kohl's. i personally am not a fan of kohl's but i'm willing to venture in for this boyfriend blazer. and someone please braid my hair like hers!

i love boyfriend jeans. i bought a pair from old navy for dirt cheap this spring and i wear them like crazy. the other day i was at my parent's house and needed to borrow some jeans to make a quick trip to the mall {i was wearing some really cute sweats} and my mom let me wear her pair from the gap. they were so soft, stretchy and comfortable. i desperately want a pair of my own.

don't you hate it when you can't fall asleep because your brain won't turn off?! it used to happen to me all the time during nursing school because i couldn't stop worrying about all the things i needed to get done. well, for the first time in a while my mind just wouldn't stop last night and after trying to count myself to sleep and tell myself i wasn't that hungry {i was starving}, i just got up.

i have been wanting to go through my closet for a few weeks now to organize and take some items over to plato's closet to make a few bucks but every day i kept finding better things to do. well, last night after getting up for graham crackers and milk i started going through my closet. i decided to part with some real beauties but i just have to accept that i won't wear them this fall. my philosophy is if i didn't wear it last year i'm not going to wear it this year - time to say bye bye. so here i am, sleepy as can be from being up so late going through my closet...but hey, at least i got something done!

isn't the closet pictured amazing! i would kill to have such an organized closet full of colorful, unique pieces. some day, some day.

thank you all for the congratulations on my new job! i start mid september and can't wait! last night my mom and i ventured to the mall to buy a baby gift and i picked myself up this striped embellished t from the gap as a little "go me" gift. i haven't shopped in months and it felt sooo good. i am definitely one of those girls who gets a little high from a new purchase. can't wait to have a little more disposable income once i start working as a nurse...

i.love.this.look. someone please buy me every piece of this outfit - including the jewels. i have been so unfashionable this past year --- you have no idea how excited i am to get a real job {real as in nursing} and start loving clothes again {like i ever stopped...}. oh j crew, you da bomb.

i love this bag, it's so fabulous for the fall. and i love the gap. i don't think i've ever talked about my love for the gap on this blog, but it's my go-to store for jeans and basics. everything there fits me really well. they also get girly, unique pieces every once and a while and i love it. i worked there my first year of college and i literally came home with a purchase every single time i worked. good thing i don't work there anymore! hubs would not be happy. but guess what! my sweet mom works there now and again and is always finding me things for super fab deals. love you mom, now buy me this hobo...

i am in love with this dress from anthropologie. isn't it just light and breezy? i love how simple and fresh it looks, perfect for a summer night on the town. my fingers are crossed it goes on sale.

while out celebrating ike's bday with my brother and sister-in-law, we stopped in anthro and spotted the penguin classic books! they are so beautiful. we promptly purchased emma to start out our collection. i told isaac we must pick one up each time we make our way downtown. or check out amazon...i bet they have them for a steal. i think little women will be my next choice.

we had such a fun time celebrating ike's birthday this weekend! it was gorgeous up at the cabin {pics to come} and it was so fun spoiling my lover boy. he requested the blueberry lemon buttermilk cake as his birthday cake {i've made it like 8 times already this summer} and it was delicious. i'm telling you, if you haven't tried it yet, you really really must.

ike was most excited about these babies. he loves white shoes and when i saw these at the nordstrom anniversary sale i knew i had to get them. has anyone else shopped the sale this year?! i just love their anniversary sale, such fabulous deals.

i'm dying for one of these mac look in a box. it would reinvent my look in a much needed way. i wish it was my birthday! maybe a graduation gift?!
