oh christmas tree.

we went and bought our tree this week...and haven't decorated it yet. i promised myself i would do it today. i just get so tired thinking about stringing on all the lights! i'm one lazy gal. but i have been getting our entire month of christmas planned...parties, dinner with the girls, date nights, and concerts. oh, and i wrote all my christmas cards. it's going to be a lovely holiday season.

sweet deal.

if you love real simple magazine as much as i do, you'll want to know about this deal. they are currently doing a special holiday offer where you can get two subscriptions for the price of one - $24! i have been thinking about ordering a subscription for quite some time now {i keep paying the ridiculous cover price, silly me}, and now this deal is simply too good to pass up. it's the perfect gift you can give yourself...and your favorite friend! i'm sold. get yours here.

these are some tasty, tasty cookies.

and they were gone so fast. on tuesday i made the mistake of going to the grocery store hungry {big no-no} and came home with a number of random goodies...including reese's mini pieces for baking. i immediately whipped up the recipe on the back of the bag and they did not disappoint. so go get yourself some reese's mini pieces and get baking! they're easy i promise.

ingredients:

2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons milk
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 1/3 cups mini reese's pieces

directions:

heat oven to 350 degrees. lightly grease cookie sheets. beat shortening, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in large bowl until fluffy; beat in egg and vanilla. stir together flour, baking soda, and salt; add alternately with milk to sugar mixture. stir in oats and candy pieces. drop by scant tablespoons onto prepared cookie sheets. bake 11-15 minutes or until lightly browned. cool 10 minutes on cookie sheet.
