first stop, portland.

when we began planning our trip to washington we decided that we simply had to go to oregon to see some of isaac's family. best decision ever. it was fabulous!

on our first day there they took us on quite the tour of oregon. we stopped at the tillamook cheese factory on our way to the beach for some squeeky cheese and ice cream and you know i was loving that!

it was so sunny and nice all day but of course once we got to the beach it was so windy. and cold. but we enjoyed ourselves anyway.

isn't it lovely?! this beach has a special meaning to isaac's family and i was so happy to be there to experience it. someday we'll go back when it's sunny and jump jump jump in the ocean!

another post about cake...

and this time i made a big cake instead of cupcakes! better than sex cake to be exact. it was my first time making it and it was delicious. and of course, i found the recipe via just cook already.

enjoy. now i must allow nicholas sparks to lull me to sleep. yes, i am reading the last song and yes i want to see the movie. have you seen it?

one of my favorite parts of going on vacation - trying lots of new yummy food and treats. and in seattle we did just that.

these cow chips cookies are amazing! thanks to my best girlfriend malorie for making sure i knew about them. i munched mine so fast.

ike got this roasted corn from a street cart and it was sooo good. i can't wait to make some on our bbq this summer.

i want another cow chips cookie. now.

sweet sweet spring.

today in utah spring has sprung! it sucked being cooped up in class all day but it got me thinking about the renewing power of spring. it makes me want to be a better, nicer, more spiritual, healthy person. i love it! and i also love the availability of fresh fruit, bike rides with husband, not freezing my bum off on the trax train, and playing tennis!

dear spring,
please stay. if there is one more snow fall i might go crazy.

mini cakes.

i made these cupcakes a few weeks ago and i've been thinking about them ever since.

the white cake + strawberry meringue buttercream + fresh berry combo is so light and yummy.
oh man i want one. instead i'm stuffing my face with easter candy...someone please come take it away from me. husband??
